This is the program of workshops and shows of the BruShu25. Consider it more of a guideline than something set in stone. Things might change a bit, get moved around a bit, so we suggest not to make too-tight plans. It’s the Shuffle after all. But, the following program can still give you a good general idea of what will be going on.

Wondering where to get lunch in between workshops? No need to run around hungry and confused, check out the lunchplan here: Bar Inferno

Program

  • We are meeting in the courtyard of Institute St-Boniface Parnasse, where you will be shuffled and assigned a room. Check getting around in Brussels for more info on the public transport options!

    MAURA – The White Space
A story is not Just what we play on stage. It’s also what arises in the imagination of the audience — in the pauses, the gaps, the silence. The white space is where anything can still happen.

In this workshop, we will explore the idea of the white space: the unsaid that invites the audience to complete the meaning, to write the story with us

    LAUREN  – Saying No
Challenge the myth that improv is only about “yes and.” This workshop explores how and when to say no—both for personal boundaries and for richer scene work.

ANA – Acting in Improv (FULL DAY!)
Apply Jorge Eines’ acting technique to improvisation, focusing on character and action over words. This workshop trains you to let the body, not the head, guide presence and choices.

JAVI – Alter Ego (FULL DAY!)
Inspired by El Club de la Impro’s 2018 format, this workshop explores multiple performers embodying one character. Through listening and shared identity, discover the poetic potential of chorality.

  • Those who are not in Ana’s or Javi’s workshops will gather in the courtyard of Institute St-Boniface Parnasse, where they will be shuffled and assigned a room. Check getting around in Brussels for more info on the public transport options!

LAUREN – Go Into the Cave
Stop delaying with invented obstacles and step boldly into the unknown. Inspired by the “cave” metaphor, this workshop is about following through on promises and unlocking possibilities.

    DAVID  – Best Friends
Discover the joy of deep listening, synchronicity, and presence in the moment. By the end, it will feel like you’ve gained a brand-new best friend on stage.

JAVI and ANA will continue the workshop started in the morning, with the same group.

  • All shows are FREE this year for the entire evening.

    "In relationship to you"

    MAURA – Songs for Dummies
Improvised songs are not about perfection. They’re about connection. They’re about standing in front of an audience and saying: “This is me” .

The magic happens when you allow yourself to feel and to share how you feel with the audience. So whether you sing in the shower, hum in the car, or have never sung a note in your life...you're in the right place.

LAUREN – Go Into the Cave

There will be constant breaks in the fourth wall; it will be possible to step out of character and express what we feel as improvisers, etc. Scenic codes to demonstrate the strengths of how improvisation is performed from start to finish.

    MAURA – Jugglers
When we are on stage, as improvisers, we can often feel overwhelmed by everything we have to keep under control at the same time: the thread of the story,  character's consistency, stage space, emotional coherence, relationships, the reaction of the audience, the rules of the format... All of this together can become stressful. The JUGGLERS workshop invites us to turn this stress into playfulness and lightness. Like a juggler, we will enjoy the flow, trust the group and embrace the fun of ' dropping the ball'

    LAUREN  – Coaching/Masterclass
Experience clear, constructive feedback designed to fuel growth. This workshop offers practical tools for giving and receiving notes at an intermediate or advanced level.

    ANA – Character Construction
Create bold, varied characters across styles, genres, and status. This workshop uses voice and body to expand your range while staying grounded in authenticity.

    JAVI – Alter Ego
Inspired by El Club de la Impro’s 2018 format, this workshop explores multiple performers embodying one character. Through listening and shared identity, discover the poetic potential of chorality.

    DAVID – Circles of Attention
Explore how shifting focus—from inner thoughts to a partner, a higher being, or the audience—transforms performance. This workshop sharpens monologue skills by teaching you to play within multiple spheres of attention.

PIERPAOLO - Game Of The Scene
This is fairly technical workshop, where we will look into one of the foundational tools on how to create solid comedy on stage with little effort; learning to recognize and highlight the games that are already happening on stage.

  • All shows are FREE this year for the entire evening.

    SMORFIA

What if your dreams could come to life on stage?
SMORFIA – Live Your Dreams is a one-of-a-kind improvised show inspired by the mysterious charm of the Neapolitan Smorfia – the ancient tradition that links numbers to dreams.

Here's how it works: random numbers from the Smorfia are drawn during the show. For each number, we ask you, the audience, to share a dream – real, surreal, funny, or bizarre. Then, right before your eyes, a team of talented improvisers brings those dreams to life through original, unscripted scenes full of humor, emotion, and surprise.

  • All shows are FREE this year for the entire evening.

    THE EXTRA

After a long career in the film industry, we're hosting a tribute interview with this actor or actress who has always played roles as EXTRAs or supporting actors in films. We'll be showing scenes from the films they've appeared in, based on titles and genres contributed by the audience. In these scenes, our beloved extra will appear for a few seconds (with or without text). Scenes from the films will always alternate with the interview in the present.

    LAUREN – Beginnings & Endings
We’ll explore different options for strong scene starts, and how to confidently end. You’ll leave with a toolkit of ideas and options to inspire, expand and strengthen your improv.

ANA – A Thousand and One Asides
Experiment with different ways of addressing the audience directly. This workshop explores how asides can add humor, depth, and variety to scenes.

    JAVI – Here (FULL DAY)
Based on Richard McGuire’s book and its stage format, this workshop tells the story of a place across time. You’ll explore details, traces, and overlapping moments that bring a space to life.

    DAVID  – Point(s) of View
Simplify the challenge of performing in large ensembles and make every voice clear. This workshop shows how to coordinate focus so even sixty people can share a stage with ease.

PIERPAOLO - All Strings Attached (FULL DAY!)
This is a format we developed with the Advanced students of Impro Brussels in the past year. It’s all about connection which is represented by actual strings (scarves and such) tying the characters together, or untying them; blurring the line between real and imaginary; and L.O.V.E. (Lots Of Violent Emotions)

JAVI and PIERPAOLO will continue their workshop from the morning, with the same group.
